Bacon-Wrapped Dates With Almonds Recipe Method

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spread almonds on a baking sheet and toast until fragrant, about 10 minutes. Let cool.Stuff each date with an almond. (We used the end of a chopstick to open the hole wider. Keep an eye out for bits of pit left when the machines cleaned the dates.).

Wrap each date with a piece of bacon, securing it with a toothpick. (Can be made ahead to this point and refrigerated until ready to bake.)If necessary, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place dates on a baking sheet. Bake until bacon is crisp, 20 to 30 minutes, turning halfway through. Drain on paper towels; serve warm. .

If we decide to go on fast and we don’t eat anything for a week, then we would probably feel hungry, little thinner and maybe weak. But if we deprive ourself of a sleep for seven days, we won’t be able to function at all...If we try to guess which activity is so important for us that we devote almost one-third of our time for it, probably the first things that come to our mind are...

Kitchen secrets/Cooking tips

Transporting a Frosted Cake

The common method for keeping plastic wrap from touching a gooey frosting or glaze is to stick the food with toothpicks and place the wrap over the toothpicks.Occasionally, though, the shrap points of the toothpicks puncture the wrap, which can then slide down and stick to the frosting. To keep the wrap securely above the frosting, try this method . 1.Place a miniature marshmallow over the point of each toothpick. 2.Insert toothpicks into the cake with the marshmallows facing up.Lay the plastic wrap over the marshmallow.

Going for local

Buying seasonal, local food is a boon for the environment for a lot of reasons. Since most food travels many miles to reach your table (1,500 miles, on average), locally sourced food cuts back on the climate-change impacts of transportation. Local food also generally uses less packaging, is fresher and tastier, and comes in more varieties. It also supports small local growers and lets them get more for their produce by not having to spend so much on packing, processing, refrigeration, marketing, and shipping.

An out-of-towner in New York at the height of the tourist season decided to revisit an uptown restaurant he'd enjoyed on a previous trip to the city. Finally catching the eye of an overworked waiter, he said, "You know, it's been over five years since I first came in here." "You'll have to wait your turn, sir," replied the harried and now irritated waiter, "I can only serve one table at a time."
