A low calorie diet allows 1000 to 1200 calories per day. Low calorie diet is recommended for overweight or obese who are on weight loss diet. Highly processed foods are avoided as they provide empty calories; fat intake should also be reduced as fat has more than twice the calories of carbs and protein. In addition avoid refined products, foods high in fat, and sugar. Skimmed milk, low fat butter, egg white, fruits, vegetables, whole grain cereals, lean meats can be included in the diet.
