Bacon is a cured meat prepared from a pig. It is first cured using large quantities of salt, either in brine or in a dry packing; the result is fresh bacon. It is a good source of Protein, Niacin and Selenium but high in saturated fats. For those on high-protein, low-carbohydrate diets, bacon can be a good choice for snack, breakfast or even main course. It could be even healthier option if cooked in the microwave and not at high temperatures for long periods of time.

Green Eating
|
Ease up on the meat
Meat is the most resource-intensive food on the table and eating less of it can be the single most green move a person makes. Producing meat requires huge amounts of water, grain, land, and other inputs including hormones and antibiotics, and leads to pollution of soil, air, and water. A pound of beef requires around 12,000 gallons of water to produce, compared to 60 gallons for a pound of potatoes. If you’re a meat eater, for starters, try cutting out a serving of meat each week. Going vegetarian or vegan is a profoundly meaningful environmental choice.

I don’t have much of a green plants in my house. One day when my mother was over to babysit my children, I remarked that one of the plants in my window was looking dull and asked if she could try to revive it while I was gone.
When I returned, to my surprise, the plant looked beautiful and full. “What did you do?” I asked.
Her reply: “I turned it around.”
