Recalibrating Instant-Read Thermometer
There's no point in using an instant-read thermometer if it's not accurate.To test accuracy,insert the probe into a pan of boiling water ,The thermometer should register 212 degrees at sea level. (The boiling point drops about one degree for every 500-foot increase in altitude, so compensate accordingly.) If your dial-face thermometer is inaccurate, it can be adjusted.Top over the thermometer and use a pair of pliers to adjust the nut beneath the head.Keep adjusting until the thermometer reads 212 degrees when inserted into boiling water.
